The fix for this is to go into split tunnel settings and change the "Name Servers" from "Follow App Rules" to "Use VPN DNS Only". I also needed to use the IP and not the name to mount the drive. VPN software was the main cause, disabling it fixed this issue, now need to root around in that and fix it.
